Dr. Kim GarrettThe Fayetteville Board of Education approved the resignation of Dr. Kim Garrett, Associate Superintendent for Administrative Services, as a part of the consent agenda at the January 26 meeting of the Fayetteville Board of Education. Dr. Garrett’s resignation is effective June 30, 2017.

Dr. Garrett said, “I have greatly enjoyed working at Fayetteville Public Schools.  However, family circumstances, particularly our aging family members, require us to be closer to home in the Tulsa area.”

Dr. Garrett joined FPS as Associate Superintendent for Secondary Education in July 2014.  She plans to return to the Tulsa area after the completion of the 2016-2017 school year.

“Dr. Garrett joined the school district at a pivotal time.  She was recruited to join FPS, and in doing so, offered her leadership, talents, and vision,” stated Dr. Matthew Wendt, Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Garrett’s service to our staff members, students, parents, and community is appreciated. I join many others wishing her and her family the very best in the future.”

The approved resignation will result in FPS initiating a national search process to hire Dr. Garrett’s replacement and fill a senior district administrative role and member of the Superintendent’s leadership cabinet.  The Associate Superintendent of Schools for Administrative Services oversees personnel, including the Department of Human Resources. In addition, the position has oversight over district policies, strategic planning and principal evaluations, serves as a liaison between the Superintendent’s office and various district committees, and assists and advises the Superintendent on district matters.

“Dr. Garrett’s early notice and the board’s approval provide the time for a comprehensive process to recruit and fill this important leadership position,” commented Dr. Wendt.  “As with any vacancy in Fayetteville Public Schools, I anticipate an exceptional and talented group of candidates.”
