Junior High Choice Programming

We are pleased to expand the choice programming offerings into our junior high schools!

Our expanded choice programming will be offered at both traditional junior high schools in the 2025-2026 school year. The focus of the programs will be science and the environment. 7th grade learning experiences will include exposure to a traditional Fayetteville Public Schools curriculum and specialized programming that includes: enrollment in Energy and the Environment; enrollment in a 7th grade science course that fulfils the 7th grade science requirement; a specialized club; a specialized advisory program that focuses on that content area; and a service learning course that will examine a problem of practice through the lens of the program.

Choice programming will be expanded into 8th grade for the 2026-2027 school year. Students will learn more about how to sign up for these programs at CAP parent informational sessions and in CAP student sessions.

Ramay Junior High School Choice Program

Woodland Junior High School Choice Program

The program is designed to ignite students’ curiosity, deepen their understanding of scientific principles, develop their leadership skills, and engage them in hands-on projects. Students will be challenged to think big and toward the future as they explore sustainable solutions to our energy needs and investigate the impact of energy on our lives and the world. They will design and model alternative energy sources and evaluate options for reducing energy consumption. They will hone leadership skills as they tackle problems of practice and create solutions. Throughout the year, they will have the chance to work with dedicated teachers and fellow students who share their passion for scientific principles and discovery.

As a member of the L.I.T.E program, students can look forward to:

  • Participating in an exciting Project Lead the Way course

  • Exploring various scientific disciplines

  • Collaborating with classmates on group projects and presentations

  • Developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills

  • Participating in a club specially designed for them

  • Participating in an advisory program that incorporates scientific career exploration

If you are interested in applying for this program for your child, applications will open Monday, February 10, 2025. Applications will be sent to all rising 7th grade students/families and are due by February 24, 2025.

More information will be given at parent night on February 5, 2025; we will host parent nights at both junior high schools.
