Options for Learning: Spring Semester 2021
Frequently Asked Questions
Am I required to complete the survey?
Elementary and Middle School Parents: please complete a survey for each child attending FPS in your home.
Junior High and High School Parents: only complete the survey if requesting a change.
Have the Options for Learning changed?
No. The same options that were available for the fall semester will be available for the spring semester.
If I request a change, will my child remain with the same teacher?
Secondary students (grades 7 - 12) who request a change will remain with the current teachers because the secondary core content teachers are teaching all groups concurrently. Please note that if the student was scheduled into a semester-long course, that change will still occur and would require a teacher change for the new course.
Elementary and Middle School students(grades K-6) who request a change will be scheduled into the new class with a new teacher.
Due to required class size limits, course offerings, and special programming, elementary and middle schools cannot guarantee assignment to the same pod/pack, teacher, or school. Students may be assigned to a school other than their zoned or home campus. Students could be overflowed to another school if their home school is at capacity.
If I am unhappy with my new assignment, may I change back to my original placement?
The district will make every effort to accommodate families. However, the original placement may not be available, as it may be assigned to another student requesting that learning option.
If my child is assigned to another school, will transportation be provided?
Yes. Transportation will be provided by the district if we are unable to accommodate your child in their zoned/home school.
I want to change my child’s learning option and I want them to remain with the same teacher. Will that be possible?
This will be very unlikely. Most teachers will likely remain in the learning option they are currently teaching.
