FPS School Garden Program

Vision: At FPS, school gardens serve as a relevant and engaging resource, which is used for core instruction, nutrition education and outdoor learning. School gardens are embedded into school culture and contribute to improved health and quality of life for the students and communities they serve.  Each school has a sustainable, replicable, and equitable program.

Mission: Students will make the connection of academic skills learned in the classroom and apply concepts in a practical setting; while cultivating a sense of reverence for nature.

Fun Fact!

Students Shoveling Compost

Did you know, the food waste students collect in their cafeteria is composted through the City of Fayetteville composting program, and then returned to the school gardens? Talk about closing the loop!

In the picture to the left, students in Washington's Garden Club can be seen shoveling compost into their garden beds. Compost is a great way to add nutrients and organic matter to the soil, which makes plants happy!
