Washington Elementary Celebrates Constitution Day - Sept. 17th. Why?
In 1887 when the Constitutional Convention gathered to improve the Articles of the Confederation, they decided to create a new Constitution. The Constitution was adopted on September 17, 1787. Constitution Day commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution by the delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia. Publicly funded educational institutions and federal agencies celebrate the day by providing educational programming about the history of the Constitution.
