Washington Elementary's Book Swap is coming February 27th. Mark your calendars! Donations for this event are greatly appreciated. Books can be dropped off in the plastic bin located in the hallway that runs alongside the office anytime between now and February 22nd. Don't forget Book Hogs Reading Contest has started. Please log your child's minutes of reading every day for the month of February in their playbooks! Playbooks should be returned March 1st. Don't forget that being read to counts as minutes also! Minutes can only qualify after school is out or weekends. Classroom reading does not qualify. 360 minutes is the minimum minutes students are required to read to receive a prize and be entered into the drawing of the Book Hog Field Trip to Bud Walton Arena.

Book Hogs Reading Contest begins today! Students are to read 360 minutes during the month of February to get a chance of their name being drawn to go to the Bud Walton Arena for a Book Hogs party with razorback athletes.

TODAY is World Read Aloud Day. As the biggest literacy drive in the country, World Read Aloud Day seeks to draw attention to the importance of reading aloud to children!
Please read aloud to your children often and talk about the importance of reading!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Mrs. Champagne, Washington’s wonderful librarian, is looking for volunteers (parents, community leaders, etc.) to come and read to classes that day. Volunteers can read a favorite book of theirs or borrow a book from the library. Contact Danielle Champagne

World Read Aloud Day is being celebrated on Friday, February 1st. As the biggest literacy drive in the country, World Read Aloud Day seeks to draw attention to the importance of reading aloud to children!
Please read aloud to your children and talk about the importance of reading!

February 7th is National Crosswalk/Crossing Guard appreciation day! We will be giving Washington's crosswalk guards some special treatment that day from the parents. I'd encourage parents to have their students write a little thank you note to give them just as a little special thanks.
