At their April 24 meeting, the Fayetteville Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the hiring of Dr. Taneka Tate as the new Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning, beginning with the 2025-2026 school year.
“I am excited to have Dr. Tate join our leadership team, “said superintendent Dr. John Mulford. “Dr. Tate has a proven record of successful leadership in Arkansas public education and she brings a wealth of knowledge as it relates to teaching and learning. We are confident she will be able to step right in and work with our teachers and leaders to keep our district moving forward.”
"I am ecstatic about the opportunity to connect with the amazing students, staff, families, and community stakeholders within Fayetteville Public Schools,” said Dr. Tate. “I look forward to exercising my servant leadership style to support the work that drives meaningful access, instruction, and leadership to enhance student achievement.”
Dr. Tate currently serves as the assistant director of Special Education for Fort Smith Public Schools. She has also served as a principal, assistant principal, literacy/math coach, and classroom teacher for Fort Smith Public Schools, and she is a United States Navy veteran.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Arkansas Fort Smith, her master’s degrees in School Counseling and Educational Leadership from Arkansas Tech University, and her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Arkansas Tech University.
