Pulitzer Prize-winning author Dr. Kathleen DuVal, FHS class of 1988, visited FHS today to share her expertise on the Quapaw in Arkansas and their interactions with European settlers. A University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill professor, Dr. DuVal discussed historical insights from her book “Native Nations: A Millennium in North America,” reminding us that every time we say “Ozark,” we are speaking of the land of the Quapaw. Fayetteville High School teacher and former classmate Coty Nichols helped make this special visit possible, connecting students with an incredible opportunity to learn from a distinguished historian and author. #fpsteachloveinspire
