Keen Named New Director of Gifted & Talented Education

At their February 26 meeting, the Fayetteville Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Jane Keen as the Director of Gifted & Talented Education beginning July 1, 2026. She will replace Karm Prock, who is retiring on June 30, 2026.

“I am excited to have Ms. Keen join our leadership team, “said superintendent Dr. John Mulford. “She has been an outstanding teacher in the classroom, and I am confident she will both continue the strong legacy of our GT program and build on that foundation for even greater success.”

Ms. Keen brings 16 years of experience in gifted education, including 13 years serving students in Fayetteville at several levels. She currently serves as a GT teacher at the middle school level for Fayetteville Public Schools. She previously served as the Gifted and Talented and Advanced Placement Coordinator for the Prairie Grove School District, where she helped develop an award-winning program.

“I am excited to build on the strong foundation of advanced programming in Fayetteville,” said Ms. Keen, “working to increase rigor and support the continued growth of our learners. I look forward to partnering with stakeholders to ensure exceptional learning opportunities across the district.”

A Fayetteville native, Ms. Keen is a product of the district’s Gifted and Talented and Advanced Placement programs and now proudly supports those same opportunities as both an educator and a parent.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Arkansas, along with a Gifted and Talented endorsement. She is currently pursuing an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.
